“These are not pet dogs we are dealing with, and so the method of euthanasia in a veterinary office is not the only humane method of euthanasia. I think that’s an important thing to say.”
This is totally unacceptable. Many, MANY Sled dogs are adopted out and adapt to living as ‘pets’ every year. The SPCA has claimed that they were ‘unadoptable’ without meeting, viewing, or temperament testing a single dog. This could eventually effect all working dogs.
Someone shot your dog? It’s okay. He wasn’t a pet anyway.
Since when does an animals job description dictate what a “humane” method of euthanisia is?
Answer - It doesn’t. Send emails, start calling, horrors like this can’t be allowed to happen. Both the owners AND the SPCA need to be held responsible for this.

I also run/ran a Protection dog blog, which I honestly haven’t updated in months. I should really get back on that.
